GOG Giveaway: Bounty Train Free Claim (Ended October 5)

GOG's homepage lists Bounty Train as its current giveaway, with an end time of Monday, October 5, 2026 at 13:00:59 UTC. That is 06:00 PT (13:00 UTC), 09:00 in New York, 14:00 in London and 15:00 in central Europe. You need a logged-in GOG account, and the game is claimed from the giveaway banner on the homepage, not from the game's store page.

What Bounty Train is

Bounty Train is a Wild West strategy game from Corbie Games, published by Daedalic Entertainment. You build and fit out a locomotive, hire a crew, ship goods and passengers between real 19th-century American towns and handle ambushes on the way. GOG's description promises a non-linear story and a choice of four factions. GOG lists it for Windows and macOS.

GOG's US store data lists the game at $9.99 with a 90 percent discount to $0.99. That sale price is separate from the giveaway, which is the reason to use the banner. GOG has published no news post or terms for this offer beyond the end time, and so far the banner is the only place it appears. If the banner is gone when you open the homepage, the giveaway has ended.

How a GOG giveaway works

A giveaway appears as a banner section on the GOG homepage with a countdown. GOG's own post on the February 2026 giveaway of Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy links to the homepage giveaway section, which shows where claims happen. Once a game is in your library it stays there. GamingOnLinux described that February offer as a free-for-keeps copy, and GOG's games come without DRM, so you can download the installer and run it without GOG Galaxy.

Each giveaway has a hard end time in UTC. GOG announced the Alone in the Dark giveaway on February 2 and set the end at February 5, 14:00 UTC, which gave about three days. In 2024 the Once Upon a Jester giveaway ran until September 5 at 13:00 UTC as part of GOG's Back to School Sale, according to VGC, a week after another free game in the same sale.

After you claim, the game sits in your library with Windows and macOS installers of roughly 1 GB each available for download. GOG describes its Galaxy client as optional, so you can install Bounty Train directly and keep the installer file as a backup. If you miss the window, the game goes back to its normal listing, which GOG's US data puts at $9.99 before the current 90 percent discount.

Under two days remain on Saturday evening UTC, October 3, so the practical plan is to claim it now rather than on Monday morning, when the 06:00 PT cutoff arrives before most of the US is awake.

The newsletter question

VGC reported in 2024 that claiming Once Upon a Jester required opting in to GOG marketing emails. Readers of the February 2026 giveaway disagree about whether that still applies, and GOG says nothing either way. Read each screen and untick any marketing box you do not want.

When to expect the next one

GOG has tied giveaways to events: a seasonal sale in 2024 and its game preservation recap in 2026. GOG's preservation recap, as GamingOnLinux reported it, cited 13 million Dreamlist votes and 312 games added in 2025. GOG has announced nothing about a next giveaway, so the homepage banner is the place to check. Quick claim checklist

1. Log in to GOG before you open the banner, so a login problem does not eat into the window.
2. Open the homepage giveaway, check the button shows no cost, add the game and finish the confirmation screen.
3. Confirm the title appears in your library, then download the installer for safekeeping.
4. Set a reminder for the end time in UTC and convert it to your zone.
