On Xbox, the route is Offers & Credits in Microsoft Store, with redemption required within 180 days of purchase. These are different rules; copying the PlayStation date into an Xbox reminder could leave you with the wrong deadline.
For Xbox, use your actual transaction date when deciding when to claim. If you do not need the membership immediately, keep a reminder based on that receipt and leave time to resolve an account problem. For PlayStation, save the stated calendar deadline alongside the order. Neither approach requires waiting for the game to launch.

Existing members should check the next payment date
An existing GTA+ member can use the same redemption route. Rockstar says the included month is added to the subscription and the next billing date moves back by one month. That makes the billing screen a useful place to check after claiming: you want to see the updated date, not merely another successful game purchase.
Keep the offer confirmation if one is provided. If the date does not reflect the entitlement, contact the relevant store support with the order and redemption details. Avoid buying another month simply to test whether the offer worked. A second purchase introduces a separate transaction that can make the original problem harder to describe.
Check renewal before confirming the offer
The complimentary period is attached to a recurring membership. Rockstar explicitly says the subscription continues at its regular monthly price until cancelled. Read the renewal amount and date shown for your region before confirming the offer.

On PS5, start with Settings, Users and Accounts, Account, Payment and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select the relevant membership and follow its cancellation option. Sony says cancellation takes effect from the next payment date.
On Xbox, use the subscription-management options associated with the Microsoft account that redeemed the offer. Check the renewal state there rather than assuming that removing a game or signing out of the console cancels a membership.
