Humble Choice's October 2026 page now includes a Might & Mushroom playtest extra, running from October 13 to November 3. Keys are limited and offered in order of availability. It gives members a chance to try the mushroom-themed strategy game, but Humble explicitly says this extra does not include the game when it releases.

What the new October extra includes

The playtest sits alongside the eight PC games already listed in October's membership. Humble labels it an Extra and describes delivery through Steam. Members looking through the month's items should check that specific entry before assuming a missing ninth permanent game key is an error. The full lineup remains covered in our Humble Choice October games list.

Humble gives a date range for access, without a closing hour or time zone. Plan to try it before November 3, and follow any more specific timing shown with your key or inside the playtest. A date on the offer page is not a guarantee that keys will remain available until the final day: the same listing warns that the allocation is limited.

This is a useful extra if you already wanted the October games and enjoy experimenting with strategy systems. If you are considering a membership mainly for the test, check availability first. The item is a temporary opportunity to play an unfinished game, so its value depends on whether you can actually use that window.

How building the shop changes a run

Might & Mushroom's main idea is that you influence the shop's pool of units as you play. Instead of relying entirely on whatever appears after a reroll, you draft the possible contents of later shops. That gives you another decision before placing an army on the board: which options do you want to keep drawing from?

The Steam listing describes a roguelike auto battler with deckbuilding. During preparation, you arrange mushroom heroes on a grid, looking for combinations between their classes and factions. Combat then plays out automatically using the formation and abilities you prepared. Positioning and the pool you assembled both affect what happens when the fighting starts.

Rerolls also interact with the game's synergy system. Steam describes class and faction effects that can trigger from the units in your hand when you reroll, giving that action a tactical role beyond searching for another purchase. These are descriptions of the game on its store page; the exact content available in the limited test can differ from the eventual release.

Getting into the test through Humble

Open the October Choice page, sign into the account with your membership, and look for the Might & Mushroom Playtest entry. Check the terms displayed there before revealing or activating a key. Its Steam delivery is separate from the other membership extras, including the IGN Plus offer.

When activating a Steam key, use the account where you intend to play. Keep the distinction between the test and the main game in mind when checking your library: Valve's Steam Playtest documentation explains that playtests use a separate application associated with the main game. Joining a test does not itself buy the eventual commercial release.

The developer controls when a Steam Playtest is available. Access can end even though an entry remains in your library. If you want to try the shop-building system, install it during the announced window; leaving it in your backlog for months could mean missing the test entirely.

What remains separate from the full game

Steam names GooloolooGames as the developer and Erabit as the publisher of Might & Mushroom. The main game's listing gives its release timing as to be announced. Humble's November 3 playtest endpoint is not a release date for the finished game, and the membership extra does not promise a future purchase discount or an upgrade to it.

The eight full October Choice games have their own redemption terms. That difference matters if you are deciding what to activate first: a temporary test needs time in your schedule, while a regular game key has a separate activation deadline. Our Steam key redemption guide explains the normal activation process. For this extra, the terms beside the playtest key determine the access you receive.
