Minior makes its Pokémon GO debut during the Orionids event, from October 19 at 17:00 to October 24 at 23:59 local time. The daily 17:00-21:00 window has increased wild encounters. The Meteor Pokémon has seven core colors, but the announcement spreads their debuts across different meteor showers. Do not plan on collecting every color during the first one.

Plan an evening session for the Orionids

The official Minior announcement separates the overall event dates from the evening boost. The first window begins October 19 and finishes late on October 24. During each shower, 17:00-21:00 local time brings shooting stars to the game and a higher chance of finding Minior in the wild.

If you have limited time to play, aim for an evening inside the announced window. Use the time where you are playing. A global countdown in UTC would be less useful here because the event follows local time, rather than one simultaneous worldwide start.

A short walk close to home can fit the evening window. Pick a familiar public route where you can play safely and see the screen comfortably. The meteor-shower theme is a reason to look at the in-game sky; it is not a reason to walk into an unfamiliar place after dark while distracted.

Why the core colors will take more than one event

Minior's core collection is tied to the shower schedule. The announcement names later Leonids and Geminids windows as well as other annual showers, with different color debuts across them. Keep a record of the form you catch rather than assuming a missing color must be hidden behind an undisclosed task.

Treat October as the start of the core collection. Save enough room to compare your catches and check the form details in the game. Avoid spending extra resources on the assumption that every color has equal availability during October; the announcement does not make that promise.

The same applies to Shiny claims. A standard debut, a new core color and a Shiny debut are different announcements. Nothing in this event's description should be turned into a guaranteed Shiny hunt or a numerical encounter rate. Use what the event actually offers when deciding how long you want to play.

The form change is a battle mechanic

Minior begins battle in Meteor Form. When its health falls below 50 percent, it exposes its core, changing from higher Defense and lower Attack to higher Attack and lower Defense. Initially that change is supported against Team GO Rocket, team leaders and in the GO Battle League. It is not a promise of the same interaction in every battle mode.

If you want to try the mechanic, choose one of the named battle contexts and pay attention to when the form changes. A collection goal and a battle goal can be separate reasons to keep a catch. The form change alone does not tell you how Minior will perform against your usual opponents.

Do not miss Buddy Trek while preparing

Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek is still running when the Orionids window begins. Buddy Trek ends October 19 at 20:00 local time, including its Timed Research completion and claim deadline. Unlocked rewards on its event GO Pass have a later claim cutoff, October 21 at 20:00 local time.

If you are working on the walking research, check that deadline before focusing entirely on Minior. Finish and claim anything you intend to earn from the timed tasks. Our Buddy Trek rewards guide explains its separate deadlines, and the Pokémon GO game page brings the current calendar together.

Pokemon GO: Fall Marathon Buddy TrekCheck the timed-task deadline separately from the pass reward claim date.

The monthly October GO Pass is another separate track. It should not be confused with Buddy Trek's event pass or with Minior's wild encounter schedule. Open the named event in the game before deciding which tasks to prioritize, especially when several progress bars are available at once.
