PS5 Games on PC: Windows Ports and Remote Play Guide

You can play a PlayStation game on Windows when it has a native PC release, or use PS Remote Play to connect to your own compatible console. A PC release runs on the computer. Remote Play streams the console's session to it. Check which route a guide is describing before buying anything: owning a PS5 copy does not automatically give you its PC version.

Find the actual Windows release first

Sony's PC catalogue links PC editions including Helldivers 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. It separates games available to buy from titles available to preorder. A preorder link is not evidence that a game is playable today.

Start with the exact game and edition name, then follow its official PC retailer link. Read the operating-system and graphics requirements on that product page. A console trailer can show the same game's story while telling you little about the hardware your Windows machine needs.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered's PC announcement trailer is labelled for PC. That is the kind of platform-specific evidence worth looking for when a search result uses a broad phrase such as "PS5 game on laptop".

A PS5 purchase and a PC purchase are separate

PlayStation Direct's PC FAQ says the PC and console versions of PlayStation Studios games are different products. A console purchase therefore does not become a Steam purchase when you sign in with the same identity. The FAQ also describes PC vouchers bought direct from PlayStation being delivered as Steam redemption codes.

Before paying again, decide whether you want to run the game on your computer or simply use the computer as another screen for your console. That distinction can save a duplicate purchase. If a native PC edition is what you want, compare the correct edition across the retailers Sony lists, rather than comparing a PC key against a discounted PS5 disc.

Treat save transfer as a separate question. Do not assume that a shared game name, publisher or account means your existing progress will move. Read the current support information for the specific title before planning to continue a console playthrough on Windows.

Remote Play needs a console and a connection

Sony's Remote Play instructions support Windows 10 in 64-bit form and Windows 11. They require a PS5 or PS4, the same PlayStation account as the console, a supported controller connected by USB, and a high-speed connection. Sony recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and download, or 15 Mbps for its best-performance recommendation.

On PS5, enable Remote Play under Settings, System, Remote Play. If you want to start from rest mode, enable the internet connection and network wake options in the console's rest-mode settings. Install Sony's app on Windows and sign in to connect.

Test that connection near your console before relying on it elsewhere. This is a useful option for playing from a different room, but it leaves the console doing the work. It does not install a standalone Windows version of the console game.

Check account and controller rules per game

PlayStation's PC support page says input features vary by title. It also states that account linking is optional for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC, with benefits for players who choose to link. Avoid turning that one game's policy into a rule for every PlayStation release.

Helldivers 2's official PC features trailer illustrates another native PC release. Use its own current store page for its account notices and requirements. A friend's experience with a different Sony game does not settle what this one asks for.
