Whiteout Survival version 1.33.9 is the update that moves a city into what the developer calls the Fire Crystal Age. Whiteout Survival on the App Store dates the release to August 17, 2026 (06:55 UTC). The notes cover a new expansion, a boss challenge called Endless Trials, two value events and a group of quality-of-life changes. This guide groups those changes by what a Chief has to do about them, and it marks the places where the official text gives no dates.

What the Fire Crystal Age unlocks

The expansion starts once the Furnace reaches Fire Crystal level 1. After that point the city enters the new age, and the notes describe survivors moving from simply enduring the cold toward better housing, food, healthcare, work and entertainment. The story framing matters less than the three mechanical changes that come with it.

The first is Survivor Profiles. Completing a profile gives each survivor in the city a unique identity. The second is the Wish Station, which replaces the old Mailbox. Wishes open up as the Furnace level rises and as prerequisite Wishes are finished. Each completed Wish pays the Chief Wish Sigils, and the Wish Shop trades those Sigils for exclusive materials used to build future entertainment buildings.

The third change is a reshuffle of Chief Orders. Some older orders leave the rotation once the Fire Crystal Age begins. Three new ones arrive, named Crunch Time, Advanced Training and Dawn Alliance Commendation, and the notes tie them to resource production, soldier training and city development.

Endless Trials: a daily window against Wulfgar

Endless Trials brings Wulfgar, the barbarian chieftain the notes call the Windhowler, onto the tundra. Eligible Chiefs can head into the Wilderness from 00:30 UTC each day. Each Chief may launch up to 30 solo attacks a day, and rallies cannot be started, so this is a solo loop rather than an alliance one.

Daily ranking uses a single number: the highest damage a Chief deals in one attack that day. The notes list three reward tracks, daily participation rewards, daily leaderboard rewards and achievement rewards. The reset is easy to misread across time zones, so here is the conversion for the current offsets. 00:30 UTC falls at 17:30 Pacific on the previous day while daylight time applies, at 01:30 in London under British Summer Time, and at 08:30 in Hong Kong. The UK offset changes on October 25 and the Pacific offset changes on November 1, so the London and Pacific figures will shift for part of each month. The notes do not say when Endless Trials starts or ends. Check the event panel in the game for a timer before planning a full week around it.

Value events and the new Daily tab

Two value events run beside the trials. Hero Ascension Training gives event points for ascending the matching heroes. Points unlock reward tiers, and a Battle Stars track sits above them for larger prizes. Exclusive Gear Forge follows the same pattern for developing Exclusive Gear, with a Champion Forge track at the top. The notes give no dates for either event.

The Overview panel gains a Daily tab. It shows progress, remaining attempts and whether a reward can be claimed for the Arena, Treks, The Labyrinth, Crystal Laboratory, Hero Recruit, Alliance Contribution, Lighthouse, Online Rewards, Expert Skills and Alliance Activity Triumph, along with other recurring activities. Because the list covers at least ten systems, the tab works best as a daily checklist.

Gear, charms, mastery and chat

Gear and charm caps rise in steps tied to hero generations. In states whose progress has unlocked Gen 6 heroes, Legendary T6 Chief Gear at 3 stars becomes available. When a state unlocks Gen 8 heroes, Chief Charm levels 17 and 18 are added, each with nine sub-stages.

Hero Gear Mastery also changes. From Mastery level 4 upward, upgrades move to sub-stages rather than full levels. The total cost of Mastery Forging stays the same, and a progress bar shows how far the next level is. Chat groups can now hold up to 200 members, which lets larger groups of Chiefs talk in one place.

What the official sources leave open

The store text for 1.33.9 does not mention a Winter Siege event, so this guide does not place one inside this update. The Whiteout Survival official YouTube channel did publish a sneak peek titled Winter Siege on July 12, 2026, and it is the only dated video from the channel used here.

The Whiteout Survival on Google Play listing links the developer's X and YouTube accounts. Its "What's new" note reads as bug fixes only, and the listing shows an update date of September 29, 2026 without a version number. The 1.33.9 details above therefore come from the App Store notes. Anyone checking a later version should compare that listing with the App Store history again before relying on the numbers here.
