Clash of Clans is getting a full interface rework, and Supercell published a complete guide to it on October 8, 2026. Battle Log, army editing and revenge alerts now sit inside the Battle button, every upgrade lives in a new Build menu, and Settings has moved under your Profile. Supercell says the new interface will be live in the game soon and has not given a date.
AT A GLANCE
- Announced Oct 8, 2026 on the Supercell blog
- Live date Soon, no date given
- Biggest change One Build menu for upgrades, one Battle button
- Can you opt out? No, Supercell says there is no way to switch back
Why Supercell did it
Supercell says the old interface was built for a much smaller game. Hero Equipment, Pets, Magic Items, events and the Clan Capital were added later onto a layout that was never designed for them, which left clutter and everyday functions buried inside buildings. New players got a screen that explained very little about what to do next.
The studio says it moved buttons to better places and took almost nothing out. Build and Battle are now mirrored, with Battle at the bottom left and Build at the bottom right.
The Battle button
Battle Log, Edit Army and the battle menu all live inside the Battle button now. Supercell argues that the daily trip to the Army Training menu is obsolete, because training times are gone and an army review screen appears before every battle.
Long-time players will notice the Battle Log first. It is no longer on the main screen, but the Battle button signals when something is waiting. A flaming sword icon means revenge is available, and an eye icon means a live replay is in progress.
The Build menu
The Build button becomes the single home for upgrades and base edits, split into four tabs: Building and Heroes, Army Upgrades, Hero Equipment and Hero Pets. Army upgrades replace tapping the Laboratory, Hero Equipment replaces the Blacksmith visit, and Pets replace the Pet House.
Supercell lists several details worth knowing before you log in.
- New buildings moved from the Shop to the Building and Heroes tab.
- Tapping an upgrade card pans the camera to the building and opens the confirmation.
- Upgrades in progress sort to the top, shortest timer first.
- Each tab has its own filters and sorting, and filters reset on a fresh session.
- Edit Layout appears at the bottom right only while the Build menu is open.
The Recommended upgrades section is still there and sorts the same way as in the old menu.
Profile, chat, events and the shop
Settings now sits inside the Profile button in the top left. Chat stays where it was. One side effect is that Supercell ID and account switching are one tap deeper, which Supercell admits will annoy anyone who swaps accounts often, and it says easier switching is being worked on.
Temporary content gets an event tray that opens automatically when the village loads. The Event Hub and Inbox are always pinned, and Gold Pass keeps its own button. Magic Items also get a dedicated button next to Magic Snacks, so Books, Hammers, Runes and Potions are no longer inside the Town Hall. The Shop now focuses on offers, gifts and special items, with a red pip when there is something worth visiting.
Clan Wars changes the most. If your clan is not signed up for a war, there is no Clan Wars icon on the main screen. A Clan Wars card in Clan chat is the way in, and once a war starts, every clan member gets a dedicated button back.
What is not finished
Builder Base gets the same changes, with two Build menu tabs instead of four. Clan Capital only gets a visual pass, and Supercell says a proper rework comes in a later update. Customization (scaling, quick actions and layout control) and easier profile switching are on the studio's wish list, with no dates.
Supercell also lists known issues for the launch, including upgrades you can afford sometimes appearing below ones you cannot, overlapping text on some devices and languages, and attack buttons in Clan Capital that are hard to tell apart. Supercell suggests giving the new layout a week, and the first login shows a short walkthrough of the Build menu.
Ore prices drop in the same window
A separate Supercell post from October 2 changes what Ore costs in Gems. Shiny Ore goes from 1 Gem to 0.5, Glowy from 5 Gems to 3, and Starry from 35 Gems to 20. Supercell says this is the new baseline, not a sale, and that the Gem cost of maxing a piece of Epic Equipment falls by roughly half. The Trader has used the new prices since July, October's Medal Event shop is being updated to match, and the next full update brings them everywhere else. If you plan to spend Gems on Ore, that last point is a reason to wait. For the medal event itself, read our Portal Panic dates and rewards guide.
