Fortnite is back on Apple's App Store in Australia, according to posts from the official Fortnite and Epic Games Newsroom accounts. Apple's Australian listing names Epic Games Sweden AB as the seller. Epic says its own Epic Games Store for iOS will follow in Australia in March 2027, so the game's return and the alternative marketplace have different timelines.
If you're searching for Fortnite on an iPhone, the posts point to two different things. The game is listed in the Australian App Store now, while Epic's own store remains a future option. The return is region-specific; it does not mean the same App Store route is available in every country.
Fortnite is listed in the Australian App Store
Epic's Fortnite account announced the return on October 23. The Australian App Store listing shows Fortnite as an iPhone app from Epic Games Sweden AB. Check the app name and seller before installing.
In its May App Store update, Epic said Fortnite had returned to Apple's store in many markets but that Australia was still excluded. The company pointed to its ongoing dispute with Apple there. The October announcement marks a change to that country-specific status. Epic has not said in the cited posts that the Australian release changes the game's availability in other regions.
The Epic Games Store for iOS comes later
Epic Games Newsroom says the Australian return follows a Federal Court order requiring Apple to open iOS devices to competition. The account also says Epic plans to bring the Epic Games Store to iOS in Australia when Apple must allow competing app stores in March 2027.
Epic's Newsroom post gives March 2027 for competing app stores. That is the date for the wider marketplace change and Epic's planned store, while Fortnite is already listed through Apple's own store. The post does not give an exact launch day or explain how the new storefront will be installed; Epic has not published those details yet.
How to check the Australian listing
Open the Australian App Store listing from the link above and check that the seller is Epic Games Sweden AB. Availability can depend on the country or region associated with the Apple account. If Fortnite does not appear in a device's store, confirm the account's region and use Apple's official listing rather than a third-party download page.
The listing gives you the app name and publisher, but it does not answer every device-specific question. Check its current compatibility notes and the available storage on your iPhone or iPad. Epic's announcement does not describe any special steps for existing accounts, purchases or progress, so use the official game and account flow if you already play on another platform.
What players elsewhere should know
This is an Australia-specific availability update. Epic's May announcement described Fortnite's earlier return to the App Store in other markets while noting that Australia had not yet joined them. The new October posts change the Australian status; they do not announce a global relaunch or a universal release of Epic's iOS store.
If you live elsewhere, check the App Store for your own country or Epic's official installation information for the current options in your region. The methods available on iOS have differed by market, and an Australian store link may not apply to an account set to a different country. Avoid relying on screenshots or instructions intended for another storefront.
Fortnite is back now; Epic's store is planned for 2027
Fortnite's Australian App Store return is the immediate change. Epic's own iOS store is planned for March 2027, when Apple is expected under the court order to allow competing app stores, according to Epic Games Newsroom. Epic has not shared a precise launch date for its storefront. For now, Australian iPhone players can use the existing App Store listing, while more details about the alternative store will have to wait.
