AT A GLANCE
- New threat Noxious Scavengers and Spewers combine faster movement with venomous bites; Spewers can also stop your sprint with webs.
- Recovery Stims help cure poison. Heavy poisoning deals more damage over time and removes your ability to sprint.
- Spewer weak point Its abdomen is unarmoured, but bursting the web sac snares nearby players and bugs. Keep your distance.
- Where to expect them Bug caves can appear across more biomes. This is a chance to encounter caves, not a guarantee for every mission.
Helldivers 2's Noxious Terminid strain adds venomous bites and sprint-stopping webs to the bug front. Arrowhead's November 3 briefing introduces the Noxious Scavenger and Noxious Spewer while expanding the biomes where cave networks can appear. Stims now have another immediate purpose: helping a poisoned diver recover.
The danger is losing the movement you need to escape. A web hit can remove sprint before the Spewer reaches you, while heavy poisoning can also stop you sprinting. Notice which effect has hit you before backing into a corner and trying the same escape again.
Read the poison warning before you run out of room
Arrowhead's enemy briefing describes a new poison icon on the HUD. Light poisoning starts damaging health and hazing vision. Heavy poisoning increases the damage over time, worsens the visual haze and removes the ability to sprint.
The briefing says stims help cure the condition. Keep one available when entering an area where fast enemies can close suddenly, and watch squadmates who have taken a bite. A teammate struggling to move may need help immediately rather than another instruction to run toward the objective.
No numeric poison duration or damage rate accompanies the announcement. Treat the symptoms and the HUD warning as the useful information during a mission. A fixed countdown guessed from a clip can encourage you to wait longer than the situation allows.
Keep space around the Spewer's weak point
The Noxious Spewer can move quickly despite its size. At medium range its Web Spit can stop a target sprinting, setting up a fast, long-reaching bite. That bite carries a stronger dose of venom than the smaller Scavenger's attack.
Its head has medium armour, while the web-filled abdomen is unarmoured. The exposed abdomen is an obvious target, but its destruction triggers a Web Explosion that snares nearby Helldivers and bugs. Before firing into the sac, check who is standing beside the enemy. A weak point can still have a dangerous finishing effect.
The official gameplay clip gives a visual reference for the new threats:
The Web Explosion can catch teammates as well as bugs. Use the armour description to plan your aim, then check that the group has enough distance before bursting the sac. The briefing supplies no fixed shots-to-kill figures.
Give the smaller Scavengers less room to surround you
Noxious Scavengers resemble ordinary Scavengers but move noticeably faster. Their bites apply poison and can follow one another quickly. They are fragile, which makes removing them before they reach biting range more useful than absorbing several attacks and saving a stim for later.
Arrowhead recommends weapons that reward volume over precision, giving shotguns, flamethrowers and grenades as examples. Choose something your squad can use safely in the space available. Several teammates holding a narrow passage need room to work without getting in one another’s line of fire.
The official Helldivers account links the strain announcement from its November 3 post:
Reconsider the cave entrance before pushing deeper
Cave networks now have a chance to appear across more biomes, including terrain beyond their earlier limited range. The wording matters: a broader encounter pool does not mean every planet or mission contains an entrance. Look at the mission you actually enter rather than assuming a cave from its biome alone.
Inside, short sightlines and blind corners reduce the time available to react to a fast attacker. Staying close enough to help a bitten squadmate is practical here. Splitting up can leave someone dealing with poison, blocked movement and an unseen approach all at once.
For a returning group, separate these enemy mechanics from earlier equipment changes. Our 7.2.0 update guide and Scope Authority Warbond article cover those earlier announcements. The Noxious briefing does not require buying that Warbond or promise a particular weapon as the only answer to the new bugs.
Before entering a tunnel, agree who is watching the next corner and who can help if the front diver is immobilised. A clear plan for helping an immobilised teammate is useful before the first bite lands, when everyone can still move freely.
Frequently asked questions
How do you cure Noxious poison in Helldivers 2?
Arrowhead says stims help cure the condition. Heavy poison increases damage over time and prevents sprinting.
Where is the Noxious Spewer weak point?
Its abdomen has no armour, but bursting its web sac triggers an explosion that snares nearby Helldivers and bugs.
Does every biome now guarantee bug caves?
No. The briefing says caves have a chance to appear across more biomes, not that every mission has one.
