Arrowhead's Helldivers 2 update 7.2.0 adds Easy Anti-Cheat alongside weapon and stratagem changes, performance work and a long list of fixes. The patch notes were posted on October 20. For players, the most visible changes include faster Sickle spin-up, buffs to several shotguns and changes to the new M-1000 Maxigun.
Arrowhead's 7.2.0 notes call the update Devoid of Liberty. It is a broad patch rather than a single-content drop: the notes cover anti-cheat, balance adjustments, mission behavior, stability and performance. The timing also lines up with the Scope of Authority Premium Warbond, which PlayStation announced for October 20.
Easy Anti-Cheat joins the game
The patch introduces Easy Anti-Cheat and says Arrowhead has added security tools intended to improve the system's effectiveness and protect game integrity. The notes link to Easy Anti-Cheat's support material for more information.
The announcement does not include a platform-by-platform breakdown of how the anti-cheat runs or list new account requirements. Players should follow the in-game prompts and official support instructions if the update asks them to install or approve a component. Avoid downloading anti-cheat files from third-party sites.
Several weapons get direct tuning
Arrowhead says the Killzone and Halo Legendary Warbond weapons needed a balance pass because they cannot use weapon customization. Among the changes, the M90A shotgun's damage rises from 605 to 726, and the MA5C assault rifle gets lower recoil and higher durable damage. The StA-52 gains a spare magazine and lower recoil, while the StA-11 SMG receives a damage increase and improved handling.
The LAS-16 Sickle and LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle both start firing faster after the trigger is pressed. For the LAS-16, the patch also shortens the delay before heat begins to cool and reduces heat build-up per projectile. The LAS-17 also cools sooner after firing. These changes target the weapons' response and downtime, rather than adding a new firing mode.
The PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle reloads faster and applies less stagger force. Arrowhead says this should make it easier to use as a precision weapon, where repeated shots need to stay on a weak point. Several light-penetration shotguns also deal more damage, including the SG-8 Punisher, SG-225 Breaker and Breaker Spray&Pray.
Stratagem and performance adjustments
The M-1000 Maxigun lets players regain movement control as soon as they stop firing, and its stagger force and impulse increase. The CQC-20 Breaching Hammer gets three more spare charges. Orbital Airburst Strike has a shorter cooldown and a tighter shrapnel pattern. Flame damage also rises for the EXO-51 Lumberer Exosuit and A/FLAM-40 Flame Sentry.
Arrowhead says CPU work should improve frame pacing, especially on lower-core-count processors and Xbox Series S. It also targets stuttering in heavy combat, improves level-loading responsiveness and reduces shader-compilation hitching on PC. These are patch goals from the developer; they do not promise the same frame rate improvement on every computer or console.

The patch also changes enemies and fixes crashes
The update separates a bug strain that can spawn Bile Warriors, Spewers and Scavengers so Game Masters can control when it appears and players can see its active state. It also adjusts the evacuation High Value Assets mission and revises a range of enemy behaviors and objective issues.
The crash section addresses vehicle customization, shuttle encounters, emotes, popups, resolution changes and upscalers. Other fixes cover weapons, stratagems, ragdolls, mission objectives and visual effects. Arrowhead also says support-weapon settings such as fire mode now persist between uses and sessions.
Which changes should returning players check first?
If you use one of the tuned weapons, try it in a familiar mission before changing the rest of your loadout. That makes it easier to notice differences in recoil, reload speed or firing delay. Players with the Maxigun or Orbital Airburst Strike can also test the movement and cooldown changes in a mission where they already know the timing.
On PC, compare the game after updating with the same display and graphics settings you used before. The notes mention lower shader hitching and smoother frame pacing, but those are not a guarantee of a higher average frame rate. For other launch and mode details, our Modern Warfare 4 DMZ guide covers a separate October release.
