What DMZ is in this release
DMZ is an open-world extraction mode set on the new Hajin map, which opens after the main campaign. Players loot, complete objectives, fight enemies and rival Operators, and try to get out before they lose their gear. Each run starts with one of three deployment types: Story Missions, Dynamic Operations or Free Roam. Story Missions can be replayed, and some stay locked until their prerequisites are done. Dynamic Operations have several objectives that earn DMZ XP and Cash, and finishing them unlocks a Supply Drop.
Operators, Dog Tags and lost Operators
Players start with two Operator slots and unlock a third through progression. A successful extraction levels up Dog Tags, which grant Trait Points across three trees: Warfighter, Scout and Survivalist. The Xbox article cites a maximum of 18 points and more than 60 traits.
Losing an Operator is the main risk. An Operator who fails to extract becomes MIA and must be recovered with DMZ Cash or dismissed. Recovery costs rise with the traits the Operator has invested in. A recovered Operator keeps its traits but loses its gear. Loot, including Bank and Stash contents, is shared across all Active Duty Operators.
Crafting at the Forward Operating Base
The Forward Operating Base is the hub. A 3D Printer there crafts equipment and upgrades from four basic resources (Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals) plus rarer 3D Printer Ingredients found in specific areas. Crafted items can go to the Stash or be equipped right away. New recipes unlock as players progress.
PlayStation's explainer adds that the base's stations expand as players complete Operations in Hajin, that vendor stock rotates daily, and that the DMZ progression track runs from level 1 to 70. Extraction works the same way throughout: players call in an exfil and must survive until the helicopter arrives.
