Four big games launch in the next 47 days, and each one covers a different set of platforms. Gears of War: E-Day arrives on October 6 and is already playable in early access, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 follows on October 23, Phantom Blade Zero on October 29, and Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19.

Gears of War: E-Day, October 6

The Coalition's prequel launches worldwide on October 6 at 08:00 PT (15:00 UTC), according to Xbox Wire. Early access has been live since October 1 at the same hour for Premium Edition owners and for Game Pass subscribers who buy the Premium Upgrade. The game is available on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, including Steam, with cloud play through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. The Steam page lists the standard edition at $69.99 and the Premium Edition at $99.99 in the US.

Xbox Wire does not list a PS5 version. Push Square reports that Microsoft confirmed at its June 7 showcase that Gears of War: E-Day is an Xbox and PC game and will not come to PS5 at launch. If you play on PlayStation, this is the one of the four you cannot play.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, October 23

Activision and Infinity Ward say the game releases on Friday, October 23, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, and that it will not be available on PS4 or Xbox One. The Call of Duty blog gives the day but no launch hour. Steam's listing shows October 22, so check your own store's listing for the date that applies to you. Steam prices the standard edition at $69.99 and the Vault Edition at $99.99 in the US.

The campaign opens with a North Korean invasion of South Korea, seen through a young South Korean soldier named Park, while Captain Price pursues a private war. Multiplayer centers on a new weapon-handling system Activision calls Ballistic Authority, and DMZ returns as a mode where you act as an off-the-books asset behind enemy lines.

Which one to plan around

PlayStation owners skip Gears and get Modern Warfare 4, Phantom Blade Zero and GTA VI. Xbox owners get all of them except Phantom Blade Zero. PC players miss GTA VI for now, and Switch 2 owners get Modern Warfare 4 only. At US list prices the standard editions cost $69.99 each for Gears and Modern Warfare 4, $59.99 for Phantom Blade Zero and $79.99 for GTA VI, which adds up to $279.96 for all four. Few people will buy all of them, so pick the platform that gets you the most of the four, and decide which single title you are most sure about. Pre-ordering is optional, and every date here is the publisher's own, so a delay would show up on the pages linked above first.
