Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the US it costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, and PlayStation lists a 7-day pre-load. Pre-orders opened on June 25 and stay open to launch. Only the bonuses carry cutoffs, and the earliest falls on November 19.

The date and the two changes

Rockstar's newswire has carried two date announcements: Grand Theft Auto VI is now coming May 26, 2026 and then now set to launch November 19, 2026. The second note says the extra months let the studio finish the game with the polish players expect. It moves the launch 177 days past May 26, about 25 weeks. Rockstar's game page now reads Coming November 19, 2026 for both consoles, and PlayStation's page says the game is for PS5 and PS5 Pro only, with no PS4 version.

Rockstar has not published a launch hour. Data behind the Xbox Store listing marks the release moment as 05:00 UTC on November 19, which is midnight US Eastern, but treat that as the store's setting rather than Rockstar's word.

Gameplay footage and the album

On August 27, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a gameplay video captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. It sits beside Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 on the game page. On September 17 Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, an official soundtrack made with Atlantic Records that launches on November 19 alongside the game.

Editions and prices

PlayStation's page lists the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 in the US. On Xbox the Standard Edition is $79.99, and the Ultimate Edition arrives as a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade at $20, which brings the total to $99.99. On PlayStation the standalone upgrade add-on currently shows Pre-Order Unavailable, so decide on the edition before you buy Standard there. Other regions have their own prices, so check your store.

The Ultimate Edition adds premium vehicles, weapon variants, apparel and a Classic Car Collection commission from a collector named Wyman. It also opens four shops that only Ultimate owners can use: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 and Electric Fang Tattoo. Rockstar says the items are threaded through Jason and Lucia's story.

Pre-order bonuses and the GTA+ month

Pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack, built around a '55 Vapid Stanier and a Shore Court personal garage with a weapon locker. Consequence adds two Vice City outfits and hairstyles for the leads. Both stores also advertise a free month of GTA+, and their terms differ in ways that matter.

On PlayStation, the digital pre-order must be placed before November 20, 2026, and you then claim the month on the GTA+ page by March 31, 2027, which is 132 days after launch. The month auto-renews into a paid subscription unless you cancel before the next payment date, it works once per account, and a handful of country stores are excluded, including China, Russia and Taiwan. On Xbox, a purchase before 19 November 2026, 23:59:59 earns the pack and the GTA+ month, with no time zone stated. You must redeem the month within 180 days of the pre-order, which means a pre-order placed on October 3 has until April 1, 2027.

Rockstar also sells a limited physical Collector's Box, The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection, while supplies last. Consequence reports that physical copies of the game contain a download code.

Pre-load

PlayStation's page lists a 7-day pre-load for both editions, and Consequence gives November 12 as the start, which is exactly seven days before launch.

What is still unconfirmed

Both stores describe the game as a single-player experience and say nothing about GTA Online at launch. Rockstar has announced only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PCGamesN files several claims under unverified: a PC release before April 2027 attributed to former-employee messages, a campaign of about 75 hours and a map twice the size of GTA 5's.

Before you pre-order

Check the price on your own store, since regional pricing and retailer bundles vary. The extra $20 buys cosmetics, vehicles, weapons and shops, so decide whether that appeals to you. If you only play on PC, there is nothing to buy yet. Set a calendar reminder for the GTA+ cancellation date as well.
