AT A GLANCE
- PC space catch Reserve at least 300 GB for preloading; S-GAME describes the game itself as approximately 145 GB.
- Preload opens October 26 at 7:00 p.m. PDT, which is October 27 at 02:00 UTC.
- Game unlocks October 28 at 7:00 p.m. PDT, or October 29 at 02:00 UTC.
- Performance targets The PC requirements use upscaling for both the 1080p/30 FPS minimum and 1440p/60 FPS recommended targets.
Phantom Blade Zero preloading begins on October 26 at 7:00 p.m. PDT, or October 27 at 02:00 UTC. PC players should check their SSD before starting: S-GAME asks for at least 300 GB of free space during the preload process, while describing the game itself as approximately 145 GB. Having enough room for that smaller figure does not meet the announced preload requirement.
The developer's preload announcement also sets the playable launch for October 28 at 7:00 p.m. PDT, or October 29 at 02:00 UTC. Downloading ahead gives you a chance to prepare the files before release; it does not move the unlock forward. The date difference between American and European listings follows the same global launch moment.
Preload and launch times in your region
In New York, preloading starts October 26 at 10:00 p.m. EDT and play unlocks October 28 at 10:00 p.m. EDT. London reaches those moments at 2:00 a.m. GMT on October 27 and October 29. Berlin reaches them at 3:00 a.m. CET on those same European dates. The UK and continental Europe have already changed their clocks by this week, while the US remains on daylight saving time.
Both milestones fall at the same local hour, two days apart. Put the preload and playable dates in separate reminders if you are arranging time off or downloading overnight. A launcher offering a download is not evidence that the game has unlocked early. S-GAME's official social announcement repeats the preload schedule.
Why the 300 GB figure matters
The developer gives two different storage figures for two different jobs. Approximately 145 GB describes the game; at least 300 GB is the requested allowance for preloading. Check the free space on the SSD you plan to use, rather than the total capacity printed on its box or the space available across all your drives combined.
S-GAME does not describe 300 GB as the permanent installation size in that announcement. It also does not provide an exact network download size there. Neither figure gives an exact download duration. Your launcher will show the actual transfer when preloading becomes available for your account.
If your drive is nearly full, move files you can recover before queuing the download. Keep the target SSD available while the launcher finishes preparing the files after the transfer.
PC requirements include upscaling
The Steam requirements list a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1660 6 GB or RX 5500 XT 8 GB for the minimum configuration. Its stated target is 1080p at 30 FPS with upscaling enabled. Both the minimum and recommended configurations require SSD installation and a 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 system.
The recommended configuration pairs a Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X with an RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB or RX 6700 XT 12 GB. Memory remains 16 GB, and the stated target becomes 1440p at 60 FPS with upscaling enabled. These are developer targets, not measured results from our own benchmarks, and they do not promise native-resolution performance with every setting enabled.
The 16 GB memory requirement refers to system RAM, separate from the graphics memory listed beside each GPU. Check both when comparing a laptop with the requirements.
S-GAME also asks players to update their graphics drivers. Check your GPU model against the relevant row before deciding that the recommended label applies to your PC. Extra storage alone will not resolve a processor or graphics-card shortfall.
What to watch before release
Epic Games' official launch trailer shows the combat and setting, but cannot establish performance on your computer. The Steam demo preparation guide explains why access, local files and compatibility should be checked separately when preparing PC games.
Before leaving the download overnight, check that it is queued on the SSD you prepared. The playable unlock remains 02:00 UTC on October 29, even if your preload finishes earlier.
