Sea of Thieves brings Last Ship Standing back from November 3 at 10:00 UTC until November 10 at 10:00 UTC. Sloop crews using the Hourglass of Fate dive into a battle with up to five rival ships. The winner is the last crew still afloat, and solo sailors have their own matchmaking pool.

The reward list includes Faction Allegiance and progress toward the Fallen Sea Dog cosmetic collection. Winning opens access to those cosmetics through a Commendation; you still buy the unlocked items at The Reaper's Hideout. Check the requirement for the appearance you want before setting aside an evening to earn it.

Pick a Sloop before using the Hourglass

The official event page limits this run to Sloops. A Brigantine or Galleon crew can continue using the Hourglass, but it will enter ordinary Faction Battles. If your larger crew wants to try Last Ship Standing, agree on smaller groups before starting the session.

Solo Sloops face other solo players, while two-player Sloops meet other duos. You can therefore enter on your own without recruiting a partner simply to avoid a lobby full of two-person crews. With a friend, decide who will spend more time steering and who will watch repairs before the first dive.

Xbox's original content update introduces the mode. It predates this November return; use the current event page for this week's schedule:

Surviving the fight matters more than picking one rival

The Hourglass takes participating crews to the Sea of the Damned. Up to six ships share the battle, so sinking the first opponent you spot does not finish the match. Only the final surviving ship gets the winner's portal.

For a first attempt, pay attention to where the other ships are while you choose a target. Committing both players to a close attack can leave nobody watching a second crew approaching from another direction. Keeping repairs under control and leaving room to steer away are useful goals while you learn the format.

The surviving ship wins, so adapt as the other crews change targets. For a new crew, a cautious opening leaves time to judge the other ships before chasing one across the arena.

Rare has also discussed the mode in its developer updates. This July recording supplies background on Last Ship Standing, rather than new November reward rates:

Understand the three reward routes

The event gives Allegiance for your chosen Faction. Strong performance also carries a chance of a rare purse of Doubloons. Rare describes that purse as a chance, so a session should not be budgeted around a guaranteed Doubloon payout after every battle.

Outright victories advance the Conqueror of the Damned Commendation. Reaching its grades opens access to Fallen Sea Dog cosmetics, which become available to buy at The Reaper's Hideout. If you want a particular piece, inspect its Commendation and shop requirements before planning how many sessions to play.

The announcement does not provide a universal earnings rate or a fixed number of wins for every cosmetic. Your progress will depend on results, and an unlock can still leave a purchase to make. Treat Allegiance gains, the possible purse and cosmetic access as separate parts of the reward system.

Leave time for a final session and delayed rewards

The event closes on November 10 at 10:00 UTC. Put that exact time in your calendar if you normally play late in the day; a date alone can make the final evening look available when the event has already ended. Our reward deadline guide explains the difference between an activity window and a separate claim period.

Rare's event FAQ directs players to support when rewards have been missing for more than 72 hours. Keep track of the session and reward involved if you need help. The stated delay threshold is a support instruction, not a reason to assume every reward will take three days to arrive.
