Xbox Mythic Achievements are a new completion reward now available for an early look to Xbox Insiders. Players earn a Mythic by completing all of a game's original achievements. Later achievements added through DLC or updates do not count toward the requirement, and Xbox says Mythics have already been applied to eligible games players completed in the past.

What counts toward a Mythic

Xbox defines the requirement around a game's original achievement set. When players finish that list, the title receives Mythic status. Achievements added later through expansions or updates are not required, so players do not have to return for every piece of post-launch content to complete the base game's set.

That separation should also make progress easier to read. Xbox says later achievements are marked as add-ons, and each game's achievement page gets a progress bar showing how close the player is to Mythic. Players can focus the list on original achievements they still need.

Older game completions can count

The feature is retroactive for eligible games. Xbox says Mythics have already been added to games players completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles. That gives long-time players a reason to open their profiles and check the new Gaming tab: some completions may already have the Mythic marker without another playthrough.

Xbox does not say that every historical game or every old save is guaranteed to receive a Mythic. Its announcement says eligible games, so the player's account history and the game's achievement set determine what appears. The blog does not provide a complete eligibility list.

Find progress on your profile

Xbox profiles now include a Gaming tab for achievements, completed games and the next Gamerscore milestone badge. Mythic completions receive a frame in the achievement history. Players can also visit friends' Gaming tabs to browse their completed games and Mythic totals. Xbox's announcement describes the tab as a place to review what is finished and what remains, which makes it the first stop for checking whether older completions have been recognised.

Inside a game's achievement list, the new progress bar shows what remains before reaching Mythic. Add-on achievements are labeled separately, and Xbox says similar progress information appears in other parts of the Xbox interface, including Guide and Achievement details. The layout is aimed at answering a practical question: which achievements still matter for completing this game's original set?

The rollout is still limited to Insiders

Xbox announced Mythic Achievements as an early look for Xbox Insiders. That is the current availability described in the announcement. It does not name a date when the feature will reach all Xbox players, so people outside the Insider Program should not expect it as a general release yet.

Insiders can join through the Xbox Insider Hub on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One or Windows PC. The Xbox Insider Program support page explains where to find program guidance and help. Xbox's announcement also points current Insiders to the Hub for support and asks participants to share feedback through Xbox Player Voice.

The Insider label matters for anyone deciding whether they can try the feature now. The announcement says Insiders can get an early look, but does not state that all accounts receive it at once or identify a public release date. Joining the Insider Program gives access to previews generally, while the specific Mythic feature's availability still follows Xbox's rollout. Check the Gaming tab after joining rather than assuming the option appears immediately on every account.

Players who do not want preview features can still use the announcement to understand the completion rule. The distinction between original achievements and add-ons helps explain why an older game can receive a Mythic even if it later gained DLC. It also gives players a direct way to read their progress in the game list, without treating every expansion achievement as part of the original completion target.

Check your profile

Mythic status marks completion of a game's original achievements. If you finished older games, check the profile Gaming tab. For a title in progress, use its achievement bar to see which original objectives remain.
