Derelikt is coming to PS5 on November 13, with a missing-person investigation aboard an asteroid research station and a deliberately old-fashioned look. Developer Visuwyg's November 2 announcement describes a survival horror game where ammunition and inventory decisions matter alongside first-person shooting.

The investigation gives the isolated setting something more unsettling than empty corridors: people with conflicting stories. You arrive to find an excavation team, while the survivors already aboard disagree about what went wrong. Deciding whom to believe is part of the premise.

What the PS5 announcement actually promises

Creator Philipp Jensen gives the November 13 date in the PlayStation Blog announcement. Sony's official account repeats that PS5 date. Neither announcement specifies an unlock hour, so there is no reliable midnight or worldwide countdown to plan around yet.

The developer also advertises a 10% preorder discount. Check your own store before paying: the announcement does not supply a single worldwide price, and a percentage alone does not tell you what your local checkout will charge. The exact dollar or euro saving depends on that local price.

The US PS Store listing identifies a single-player PS5 game published by Hyperstrange. It still displays an undetermined release date in the listing text, while the newer developer announcement supplies November 13. Use the dated announcement for the schedule and your account's store for purchasing availability.

Supplies matter as much as the weapon collection

Von Neumann Outpost sits on an anomalous asteroid in Saturn's orbit. You play an outside contractor investigating Excavation Team Delta's disappearance. Failing systems and dark corridors make the station dangerous before you settle the question of which survivors to believe.

The store description makes resource pressure explicit: ammunition, health and inventory space matter. A weapon collection does not mean unrestricted shooting. Searching rooms for supplies and opening routes through the station are part of survival, so a player looking for constant forward momentum should expect pauses for exploration and decisions.

Conventional weapons sit alongside experimental and alien equipment. The developer describes fast gunplay, but also resource management, dialogue and old-school puzzle solving. An encounter can use up resources you wanted to save for whatever waits beyond it. Taking time to explore may therefore matter as much as shooting quickly.

Watch how the game uses its retro effects

Jensen describes hand-painted textures and vertex-colour lighting, where colour applied to the geometry helps create the scene's lighting. The team also deliberately uses affine texture warping, the shifting or wobbling surface look associated with early 3D games. These are aesthetic choices on modern hardware.

Dynamic subdivision breaks geometry into smaller pieces to manage that warping. The intended effect is a convincing late-1990s appearance with enough control to keep scenes readable. Full-motion CGI cutscenes are another part of that approach, drawing on how older games presented major story moments.

The developer says players can toggle effects to match their preferences. No complete options list accompanies that statement. If an effect bothers you in the trailer, check the game's actual settings before assuming the entire visual style is fixed or that a particular filter has a separate switch.

Decide whether this kind of horror suits you

The store names System Shock 2, Alien Resurrection and Doom 3 as inspirations. Treat those references as a description of the intended mood and structure. They do not establish a campaign length, difficulty level or set of features shared with every one of those games.

Over a dozen NPCs remain aboard, with their own agendas and versions of events. If you enjoy reading a situation through conversations while managing a dwindling supply of ammunition, that premise offers more to consider than the retro graphics alone. Players after a confirmed co-op campaign should note that the store lists one player.
