A GO Pass is a limited-time progression track in Pokémon GO. Every Trainer gets the free track when a pass starts, and players who pay for the Deluxe upgrade unlock a second, faster set of rewards on the same ranks. Passes come and go on their own schedule. The three 2026 pass pages used here describe the same rules, so this guide explains the system and uses their official dates as examples. The source pages are the official GO Pass: October 2026 post, the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek post, and the Halloween 2026 Part I post.

How ranks and GO Points work

Each pass has a fixed set of ranks. Trainers collect GO Points by completing Pass Tasks, and each rank they reach unlocks the rewards listed for it. The free track gives encounters with the event's featured Pokémon, plus Candy and Rare Candy. The Deluxe track adds more encounters and Rare Candy XL.

The pass pages describe progression in fixed windows. Trainers receive the pass automatically at the start time, then have until the end time to rank up. The end of progression is not the end of the rewards. Rewards that were unlocked stay available for a short period after progression closes, which the pages list separately.

The Deluxe upgrade

Deluxe can be bought at any point during a pass. The official pages say a Trainer who upgrades later keeps every reward from ranks they already unlocked, so there is no penalty for waiting. In practice, buying early gives the Deluxe rewards at every rank the player reaches, while buying late means the Deluxe rewards for earlier ranks are collected at once.

The prices listed on the 2026 pass pages were:

  • GO Pass: Halloween 2026, US$7.99 for Deluxe and US$9.99 for Deluxe plus 10 Ranks.
  • GO Pass: October 2026, US$7.99 for Deluxe and US$9.99 for Deluxe plus 10 Ranks.
  • GO Pass: Fall Marathon 2026, US$4.99 for Deluxe and US$6.99 for Deluxe plus 6 Ranks.

The "plus ranks" options add enough GO Points to reach a higher rank straight away. The Fall Marathon option reaches Rank 7 and the other two reach Rank 11. Prices differ between passes, and the pages quote US dollars, so check the in-game store for your currency before you buy. Availability of the Deluxe upgrade can also vary by region.

Some passes sell bundles through the Pokémon GO Web Store. The October bundles, for example, came with Ultra Balls, Max Revives, Max Potions, and Premium Battle Passes as a gift with purchase. A Deluxe bought through the web store activates as soon as the pass begins.

When rewards expire

The expiry rule is the part most players miss. In each of the three passes above, rewards expire two days after progression ends, at the same clock time in local time.

  • The October 2026 pass ends November 3 at 10:00 a.m. local time, and its rewards expire November 5 at 10:00 a.m.
  • The Fall Marathon pass ends October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time, and its rewards expire October 21 at 8:00 p.m.
  • The Halloween 2026 pass ends November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time, and its rewards expire November 7 at 8:00 p.m.

These are examples from the 2026 pages, not a permanent rule, so check the pass page for the exact expiry. Claiming before the deadline is the only thing that protects the reward, so a rank you unlocked on the last day still needs a claim before the expiry time.

The Lucky Trinket

The Lucky Trinket is a special reward. The October 2026 pass placed it as the final reward on the Deluxe track. A Trinket turns one friend on your Friend List into a Lucky Friend. The status applies to both of you even if you are not yet Best Friends, and the next time you trade with that friend, both Pokémon become Lucky Pokémon. The Lucky status clears after that one trade.

A Trinket only stays in your item bag for a limited time. The October 2026 Trinket expires November 8 at 11:59 p.m. local time, no matter when it was claimed, so it is worth using it early. The October pass page makes that expiry clear, and it is an example of why the expiry date on any pass page matters more than the progression end.

Practical checks before a pass starts

Read the pass page before you spend anything. Look for the start and end times, the expiry time, the Deluxe price, and any bonus that depends on reaching a milestone. Milestone bonuses, such as 2x Candy or Stardust, are listed separately from the ranks, so check the bonus list too. For the event schedule that these passes support, see the Pokémon GO Halloween 2026 schedule. For a summary of the game's events and rewards, see Pokémon GO rewards.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay for a GO Pass?

No. Every Trainer receives the free track automatically when a pass starts. The Deluxe upgrade is optional.

Can I buy Deluxe after a pass has started?

Yes. The official pages say you can upgrade at any time during the pass and still collect rewards from ranks you have already unlocked.

How long do I have to claim GO Pass rewards?

The 2026 pass pages set expiry two days after progression ends. Check the expiry time on the pass page for each pass.

What does a Lucky Trinket do?

It makes one friend a Lucky Friend. The next trade between you makes both Pokémon Lucky Pokémon, and the Lucky status then clears.
