You can collect Pokémon GO's free Halloween research rewards even if you have little time to play. Each part includes free Timed Research whose tasks complete automatically. Part I awards six Rare Candy and an encounter with Pikachu wearing a hat and capelet; Part II has its own six Rare Candy and an encounter with Sinistea wearing a bow.

Automatic completion does not remove the claim deadlines. The Part I announcement and Part II announcement give separate cutoffs for those research rewards. The Halloween GO Pass then has another deadline for collecting rewards from ranks you have already unlocked. If you only remember the final pass date, you could miss the earlier Pikachu research.

Claim Pikachu before Part I ends

Halloween Part I begins October 27 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Its free research expires November 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time, when the next part begins. During that first window, open your research and collect the completed rewards. Leave enough time for the encounter instead of assuming everything has already moved into your account.

The free research does not require a Deluxe pass purchase. Its announced rewards include the costumed Pikachu encounter, with a chance of a Shiny version. A chance is not a guarantee, so buying another Halloween item should not be treated as a way to guarantee the research encounter will be Shiny.

If your main goal is that costume, put the November 1 cutoff in your reminder rather than the wider Halloween end date. Players following the whole event can use our Halloween schedule for the wild encounters and the handover between its two parts.

Return during Part II for Sinistea

Part II opens November 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time and ends November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Its automatically completed research is a separate reward opportunity. Check the new research during that window, even if you collected everything available in Part I.

The encounter this time is Sinistea wearing a bow. As with Pikachu, the announcement gives a Shiny possibility without promising one. The claim deadline is November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Do not carry over the first part's morning cutoff when planning your second reminder: this one ends in the evening.

Both event pages use local time. A countdown posted by someone in another region can reach zero before or after your own event changes over. For a simple claim reminder, use the dates and local-clock times shown in your game rather than converting a social post's timestamp.

Keep the Halloween GO Pass separate

The free Halloween GO Pass arrives automatically October 27 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Collecting GO Points and progressing through its ranks ends November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Unlocked pass rewards remain available to claim until November 7 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

That later collection window belongs to the pass. It does not extend the expired Part I or Part II Timed Research. Before closing the game near an event boundary, check both the research rewards and the pass rewards, since completing one collection screen does not tell you whether the other is clear.

Deluxe is optional. The official page lists US$7.99 for Deluxe and US$9.99 for Deluxe plus 10 Ranks, with regional pricing and availability differences. You can collect the announced free research without buying either upgrade. Our GO Pass explainer covers the rank system if you are deciding whether the paid extras fit how much you play.

A short session can cover the free claims

Start by collecting the current part's research, then inspect any unlocked pass ranks. If you have time afterward, the event's encounters and Field Research provide more to do. Collecting those rewards first leaves less to remember when you next open the game.

The official Lavender Town remix below accompanies the Halloween atmosphere; it is music, not a walkthrough of the research menus. You can enjoy it without relying on a video to explain which reward screen needs checking.
