The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Nintendo's October 14 overview shows microphone-controlled ocarina songs and a place to replay defeated bosses. The new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are scheduled for 2027, so their masks will arrive after the game.

What changes when you play
Nintendo's overview announcement describes rebuilt visuals, voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue, and symphonic orchestral music. The Switch 2 product page also lists enhanced controls, including jumping and dashing, with modern camera movements. These are changes to the experience of moving through Hyrule as well as its presentation.
For returning players, the controls are worth watching closely in the trailer. Memories of where to go will not tell you how the camera feels or how an encounter plays with the new movement options. If this is your first playthrough, the footage introduces exploration and combat without walking you through a dungeon solution.
The central adventure still follows Link, Navi and the threat of Ganondorf taking the Triforce. Nintendo describes this version as built from the ground up for Switch 2. It is listed as a single-player game, with TV, tabletop and handheld play modes. Check the system label when buying: the listing is for Nintendo Switch 2.
Microphone songs and boss rematches
Once Link has learned a melody, Nintendo says you can hum it, or play it on a real instrument, for the Switch 2 microphone to recognize. Link's ocarina responds in the game. The requirement to learn the song still matters; the feature is not described as a way to skip learning melodies during the adventure.
Nintendo also introduces the Hall of Fallen Heroes. Statues of defeated monsters appear there, letting you learn about them and challenge them again. For someone who enjoys a particular fight, that gives a reason to return after the original encounter. It also offers a place to practice without treating an entire new playthrough as the only way back to that battle.
Neither feature establishes a performance benchmark. A trailer can show the interaction, but it cannot promise how every scene will run on your own display. If frame rate is your deciding factor, wait for a measured review of the release build before buying.
Amiibo rewards have a later schedule
The new Young Link and Young Zelda figures are due in 2027. Nintendo says they unlock masks with a retro visual style. Existing Legend of Zelda series amiibo also provide in-game extras, so players who already own a compatible figure can check its reward without assuming they need to buy a new one.
The Young Link product description explicitly says the exact release date will be announced later. Its item-details section also displays December 31, 2027. Treat that as a placeholder while the descriptive text still says the day is undecided. It is not a reason to plan around a New Year's Eve launch.
Amiibo are sold separately from the game. Buying the game on November 5 does not include the new figures or bring their release forward. If a particular mask is the reason you want one, wait for its final availability details before making plans to collect both.
Check the game and companion features separately
ZELDA NOTES is a service inside the Nintendo Switch App on compatible smart devices. The store describes daily accomplishments, location-finding challenges based on images, and an ocarina you can play on the device. Nintendo's overview states that a Nintendo Account, persistent internet and a compatible smart device are required for the service; data charges may apply.
Those requirements apply to the companion service. Check its device support before planning to use it alongside the single-player adventure. Do not assume a phone feature is included with a physical accessory simply because both appear in the same announcement.
The US overview lists the game at $59.99. That is a US price, so use your own regional store for the amount you will pay. The product page estimates a 27 GB download and warns that download sizes can change before release. Leave room for an update instead of treating that estimate as a final storage guarantee.
For other dated releases, see our upcoming games calendar. Ocarina of Time's November 5 launch and the amiibo's 2027 window are separate dates to keep on that calendar.
