Battlefield 6 Season 5, called Siege of Vegas, starts on October 13, 2026, and opens Year 2 of the game with two new maps, a faster REDSEC battle royale mode and a batch of combat changes. A free trial of the full game follows two days later, so you can try it without paying.

Two maps at launch, a third later
EA's roadmap says the season begins with Vegas Strip and Area 51, and a further new map arrives later in the season. Vegas Strip is the infantry-heavy map, with casinos, hotel interiors and a central crater ringed by a wrecked convoy. Storm drains underneath give players a safer way through the middle. EA's developer map guide, published October 9, names objectives such as Olympus Pools, Olympus Lobby and Karat Plaza, and describes ziplines to the hotel roof and a collapsed dome to drop through.
Area 51 is built for combined arms. Tanks, helicopters and jets fight over the desert above ground, and a crater opens into a classified underground facility with tunnels, garages and abandoned laboratories. The guide points to an aircraft control tower that works as a sniper nest at the start of a match and turns into a rubble fight once it comes down, plus a Crash Site where ground vehicles collide around wreckage.
Rapid Royale and the competitive side
Rapid Royale is a REDSEC mode for shorter matches. EA describes streamlined Solos and Trios games with smaller player counts, high-value loot and a Ring of Fire that keeps squads moving. Every elimination earns redeploys, so an aggressive squad can bring a teammate back. Ranked Battle Royale gets an official new season, and REDSEC's Open Series competition starts. The Elite Series follows later in the season with cash prizes, and multiplayer gets leaderboards.
EA's October 1 look ahead listed several REDSEC-specific changes under test for the season: tighter ranked skill bands, a reconnect option for dropped players, recommended drop zones in casual battle royale for newcomers, and much faster armor application. It also rebalanced class training paths. Engineers, for example, start with the guided launcher function already unlocked, and Support's supply bag moves into the loot pool. EA flagged that anything in that post can change after testing, so the list shows intent and is not final patch notes.
Weapons, vehicles and balance
Four new weapons are available at launch according to the roadmap: the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR submachine gun, the Z84M light machine gun and the ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle. The ELR-40 has the best bullet drag in its class and a custom single-shot round that moves its sweet spot to close range. EA's Steam post for the season counts six new weapons and two new vehicles across the whole run, so more arrive after launch. The roadmap notes that the new gear needs REDSEC and all game updates installed.
Balance work covers the whole game, and planned changes include lower Little Bird splash damage against infantry, retuned main battle tank munitions, a balance pass on missiles, resupply pad cooldowns that apply per vehicle class, and stronger mobile anti-air cannons against aircraft. Laser designators will need more consistent tracking to keep a lock. EA has not yet published the full patch notes, so numbers may differ from this preview.
Dead Space, Casino Heist and what comes next
The Halloween event is a Dead Space crossover called the Convergence Event. A Marker discovered beneath Area 51 starts spreading its influence in a new PvE experience. EA says more detail will come closer to the date, and the Steam trailer post calls it limited-time. Separately, EA ran a Discord community event, Hunt: Signal Override, from October 6, which offers an Emberbrush Soldier Skin to players who solve at least two of the daily mysteries.
The roadmap lists two dated updates after launch. Casino Heist arrives on November 10 with a new infantry-focused European Casino map built around destruction. Frozen Aces follows on December 8 with Operation High Roller, Platoons, the long-requested Server Browser, the B-81 Cavalry, and revisited versions of Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City. Both dates are Tuesdays.
Gauntlet leaves Battlefield 6 with the new season. If you want to play it, October 13 is the last day EA lists.
Free trial and who it is for
The Battlefield 6 Full Game Trial runs from October 15 to 19, 2026. EA says the trial period can vary by platform and that conditions apply, so check your platform store for the exact window. Players who already own the game do not need it. It suits friends you want to squad with in the first week of the season.
If you follow other shooter seasons, our notes on Apex Legends Blood Pact and the Call of Duty MW4 DMZ return cover the same stretch of the calendar.
