Epic Rewards are credit for future eligible purchases. They become available fourteen days after an eligible purchase and normally expire twenty-five months after they are earned, unless a promotion states otherwise. Read the earning rate shown before you pay. The money due at checkout and the rewards you may spend later are separate parts of a deal.

Why your reward may still be pending

Epic's programme introduction explains that qualifying purchases add rewards after the waiting period. The launch article used the rate available when the programme began in 2023. Do not carry a percentage from an old announcement into a different promotion; use the offer attached to your purchase.

If you are planning to buy two games, allow for the delay before expecting the first purchase to help pay for the second. Credit that is still pending cannot serve the same purpose as an available balance. Check both the purchase date and the balance screen before treating an apparent absence as a missing reward.

Keep the order confirmation until the reward appears. It gives you a precise transaction to refer to if you contact support. A screenshot of a general sale banner is less useful than knowing which game you bought and what that checkout promised.

Use the balance on a purchase you already want

Epic's introduction describes applying available rewards at checkout toward future eligible purchases. It also says rewards can combine with discounts and coupons. Read any restrictions attached to the particular offer before assuming that a combination will work on every product.

My preference is to compare the cash payment first, then ask whether I would use the credit on something already on my list. If spending the balance would require buying a game I had not wanted, the headline reward is less useful to me. Someone who regularly buys eligible games through Epic may judge that trade-off differently.

When comparing stores, use the same edition and region. A base game on one store and a bundle with an expansion on another are different purchases even if both pages lead with the same game title. Write down what is included before trying to decide which total looks cheaper.

Expiry and where the credit works

The Epic Games Store agreement limits rewards to Epic online stores that accept them. It says they have no cash value and cannot be transferred, traded or withdrawn. The standard unused-credit expiry is twenty-five months after earning, unless the programme discloses another rule.

That makes the balance useful within a particular shopping plan, rather than money available for any purchase. Do not subtract it from your general gaming budget as though you could spend it on Steam or a console storefront. Record it separately if you track purchases across several stores.

If you have several rewards with different expiry dates, look at the account's dates before making a decision. A reminder can be helpful, but an expiry should not become a reason to buy something you do not want. Compare the amount at risk with the cash you would need to spend to use it.

Refunds deserve a separate check

Epic's terms say that when a product bought with rewards is refunded, the reward-funded amount returns to the rewards balance. Expired rewards are subject to Epic's discretion over an extension. Do not expect that portion of a refund to arrive as cash in your bank account.

Before requesting a refund, keep a record of how the original order was funded. A mixed payment can be harder to follow if you remember only the total price. Check the transaction and the rewards balance together afterward so you can see where each part went.

For free-game claims, use our Epic claiming guide. For the upcoming dated giveaway, the Bad Cheese and Agent A offer has its own schedule. Claiming a free game and earning purchase credit are different reasons to visit the store.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my Epic Rewards pending?

Rewards become available fourteen days after an eligible purchase. Check the transaction date and the account balance.

Can I turn Epic Rewards into cash?

No. Epic's terms say rewards cannot be cashed out, transferred or traded.

Do Epic Rewards expire?

The standard rule is twenty-five months after earning, unless the programme discloses a different rule.

Is the reward percentage always the same?

Use the rate disclosed before the purchase. An old promotional percentage is not a promise for a later order.
